/ Covenant with the Poor In 1997 Bishop Cormac signed this Diocesan Covenant with the Poor and urged parishes to look at their involvement with poverty issues and to prepare their own parish covenants. This is our Covenant from many years ago. “We the people of St Mary of the Angels, Worthing, pledge ourselves as individuals and as a community to place concern for the poor, at home and abroad, at the centre of our Christian life”.
/ Creationtide Service – A retired Anglican priest living at Ramsay Hall in Byron Road, invites any parishioners from St Mary’s who may be interested to a non-Eucharistic Ecumenical Creationtide Service being held on 13th October at 3pm in their chapel, Their Chichester Diocesan Environment officer will be speaking on the theme of ” We are here to take care of God’s creation” and it will be followed by refreshments.
/ Live Simply Tip of the Week Week Fit more active travel into your day and daily routine. It’s worth considering what journeys can be made by walking or cycling. Could you get off a stop early to walk the rest of your journey, take a relaxing stroll home, or hop on a bike and enjoy a cycle friendly route? If you prefer exploring outdoors on foot, find out if there’s a local Ramblers group
/ SHOUT Worthing Soup Kitchen would like to thank you at St Mary of the Angels all for your support for the Food Bank at 219 Tarring Road it has been greatly appreciated. We are able to open more often and tackle food waste better in our community. We are running half of the new premises as a charity shop – that should enable us to raise enough finances to cover the following year’s rent – as the food pantry will not make any money. St Mary’s have been very generous with weekly donations of food & there’s a box each end of the church with a list of the items required. Please donate what you can to help the poor & needy in our town.
/ Parish Projects for 2024 we have a number of projects & for the next few weeks we’ll be highlighting them one at a time Yada delivers frontline projects aimed at raising awareness and preventing the sexual exploitation of self-identifying women. We work across Adur, Worthing, Arun and Chichester local authority districts https://www.yadauk.org/
