Cake Sale for Loudes Red Shirt

CAKE SALE will be held on Sunday 12th February, after the 9.30am Mass at Worthing, the proceeds of which will support a young person from our parish to join the Red Shirts as part of the Arundel & Brighton Diocese 2023 Lourdes Pilgrimage in July

Parish Lent Groups

To prepare for Easter, our Lent Group will resume at Holy Family this year, as we discuss the power of Jesus’s sacrifice for us and pray over its implications in our lives. It will be in the Gathering Room at Holy Family on Tuesday 2nd, 9th, 16th and 23rd March at 2.00pm. All are welcome. Just come along, and we would love to hear your contributions.

Ash Wednesday 2023 Mass Details

ASH WEDNESDAY is on 22nd February. Masses (with distribution of ashes) at 7.00am (St Mary’s), 10.00am (Holy Family), and 7.00pm (sung, St Mary’s). Holy Hour and Benediction at St Mary’s from 9.00am (except Wednesdays and Sundays) throughout Lent.

A good number of parishioners were in attendance. We learned that things, in the deanery, will have to change more quickly than originally thought. There will probably be two main administrative hubs in the diocese: Worthing and Littlehampton. Parishes are asked now: to find more creative ways of working together, rather than replicating the same things across the deanery in each individual parish; to pursue the idea of a deanery newsletter, so that events and information can be shared across the whole deanery; look at ways in which the schools and the parishes might work more succesfully together. Worthing Deanery consists of: Worthing & Lancing, Goring, High Salvington, East Preston, Littlehampton & Rustington and Shoreham & Steyning. What suggestions might you have?

A Celebration of Advent

There will be a CELEBRATION OF ADVENT on Saturday 17th December at 4.00pm at St Mary of the Angels, Worthing. This service will help you prepare for Christmas with a journey through Advent with readings, choir, and congregational music.

There are extra Advent Confirmation slots are available on Sundays 11th and 18th December at 8.45am (St Mary’s), 12.15pm (Holy Family) and 5.00pm (St Mary’s).

Remember that our Parish Reconciliation Service is at Holy Family Lancing on Monday the 19th December, 7.00pm.

Parish Confirmation Programme 2023

Are you a student in Year 10 or above, and looking to better understand your faith?

Are you seeking to have your faith ‘confirmed’ at Arundel Cathedral before family, friends and the wider Catholic community?

If you can answer ‘yes’ to these questions, then why not do something about it? We will begin preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation in January leading up to the Confirmation Mass in May. If you would like to join the programme, please email me Deacon Phil (deaconphil65@gmail.com), briefly letting me know why you would like to do this.

Enrolment for First Holy Communion 2023

There will be an information and enrolment meeting for parents only who, in June 2023, wish their children to receive First Holy Communion. Children should be at least 7 years old by 31st January 2023. This meeting will be held at St. Mary’s Church on Monday 23rd January, from 7.00pm – 8.00pm. It is most important that all interested parents from both our Worthing and Lancing churches attend. The first session for children and parents is on Saturday 4th February from 1.15pm – 2.45pm in St. Mary’s Church. Enrolment forms and copies of your child’s Baptismal Certificate should be handed in at this session.

Please note, following strict guidance from the Diocese, only those children who live in the parish or who regularly attend Mass in one of our churches, may enrol on the programme.
