1/ a serious earthquake has hit Myanmar, in an area already affected by conflict. Buildings have been damaged in neighbouring Thailand, so it’s likely to be devastating. 2/ Fr Silvester – Is setting up a Senior’s Club. The majority aren’t entitled to pensions or social benefits. As a result, elderly people in the area solely depend on relatives for support. Unfortunately, the children and grandchildren often struggling to look after their own families without any external support from the government. The result is old age-malnutrition in the form of poor diet and mental illness due to isolation from the main community. The main aims of the club are therefore: 1 allow senior’s to get together & ward off social isolation. 2. Share challenges and experiences. 3. Receive a healthy meal at least twice a month. 4. Receive talks on various topics from specialists. 4. Receive free medical check-up at the centre. 5. Engage in appropriate physical exercises and entertainment. In order to start up this club they have asked for funds to buy a large tent as the base & some chairs. To help them get started there will be a 2nd collection this Sun 30th March.

5/ Christians worldwide urged to take legal action on climate
crisis against polluters and those who finance them. In a new report hope-for-children-through-climate-justice
the World Council of Churches sets out practical ways faith organisations can help protect young people and future generations from the climate crisis. Drawing on Christian teachings on stewardship and justice, it presents strategic litigation as a tool to “create hope and hold responsible parties accountable”. Many faith leaders have spoken up about the climate crisis, including Pope Francis, who published Laudato Si and has continued to exhort Catholics to action.
