First Holy Communion

First Holy Communion Program
2025/26

Following Baptism, the sacraments of Reconciliation and First Communion are the next milestones in the development of your child Catholic faith.  The preparation for these sacraments takes place over eight months through a combination of desk based learning, activities and services which children can participate in. There are also a series of sessions for parents designed to help answer any questions a child may have in order to support them through the preparation process. All classes take place according a Catechetical Plan which will be published before the classes will start.

Programme materials are provided and if possible parents are asked to contribute towards these resources. First Communion Mass takes usually place in early May.

Children in the Parish who are beginning Year 4 (or  8 years old by Saturday, May 9th 2026) at Primary school are eligible to join the Programme to prepare for the Sacraments of Reconciliation and the Eucharist. This programme is led by a team of catechists and also involves parents meetings with the Parish Priest, Deacons or catechists.
