As we’re approaching Christmas many families can’t afford to provide presents for their children, if you have any they would be very grateful, also any Christmas food. Holy Family also support a similar charity. 

 

 

 

5/ Live Simply Tip of the week Soothe coughs naturally, for a cheaper and natural alternative to shop-bought cough medicine, soothe sore throats with an infusion of organic honey and lemon in hot water. The honey will relieve irritation and has valuable antimicrobial properties.

 

 

 

 

6/ Parish Project St Matins Mission – Dominican Friars work among the poor & suffering in Jamaica  For over a century, English Dominicans have been serving in the Church in the Caribbean in parishes, schools, chaplaincies, seminaries, and caring for the poor and oppressed. Our Province’s work in the Caribbean is supported by fundraising in the United Kingdom through the St Martin’s Mission fund, for which friars of the Province raise money chiefly through appeals in diocesan parishes.

2/ PAX CHRISTI – Their most recent newsletter discusses Catholic Social

Teaching which calls us, on this 8oth anniversary of Hiroshima, to speak

out against expansion of Nuclear weapons & to support policies that

uphold peace. The newsletter shows their various actions, protests &

pilgrimages made this year in support of the Treaty on the Prohibition

of nuclear weapons. Pax Christi also campaigns against the annual Arms

Fair which the UK hosts in London.

1/ Take action for COP30 with CAFOD The COP30 UN climate negotiations in Brazil from 10-21 November will be one of the most critical climate summits in years.

With over 93% of the most climate vulnerable countries also suffering a debt crisis, in this Jubilee year the UK must play a key role in pushing rich countries to unlock new sources of public finance for climate action – especially for those countries that are suffering a debt crisis too. Will you message the UK Secretary attending COP30? Take action for COP30

We’ll be celebrating the difference we can all make when we choose Fairtrade and campaign as part of a UK-wide movement calling for a fairer system behind the things we consume every day.​With the world in a tailspin, fairness isn’t a given.​ But the power to get there is in our hands.​ Together, our actions can have a positive impact on real people’s lives.​ Fairer pay. Fairer treatment. Fairer futures.​That’s Fairtrade.​ It’s not just a label – it’s a movement.​So, whatever you do and however you do it:​ Do it Fair.

2/ FR. SILVESTER This Sunday & until the end of the month, the parish will be collecting medical & school related items for Fr. Silvester’s projects in Uganda.

The type of items needed for healthcare are spectacles, hearing aids, clinical uniforms (male and female), syringes, dental and surgical equipment such as callipers, forceps, bandages and plasters, clinical thermometers, stethoscopes, insulin meters, pulse oximeter surgical gloves, walking sticks, wheelchairs, blankets, bedsheets, clinical curtains, Medical and Health related books ( for a small community library). All medical items must be in date to pass customs.
The school needs ruck sacks, text books, pencils, pens, geometry sets & other items suitable for school children.  Also children’s shoes, children’s clothes, school uniforms. No adult clothes as there’s an embargo.

Fr Silvester is very grateful for any support we can give.

Please leave items in boxes each end of St Mary’s & at Holy Family.
