A journey of faith
Are you thinking about becoming Catholic?
Perhaps you have been coming to Mass with family or friends, or perhaps you have simply begun to ask questions about God, Jesus and the Catholic Church. You may have been baptised in another Christian tradition, or you may not have been baptised at all.
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is the Church’s journey for adults who are exploring the Catholic faith and considering becoming members of the Catholic Church.
RCIA is not simply a course of classes. It is a journey of faith, prayer, reflection and discovery, lived within the Catholic community. It gives you the opportunity to ask questions, learn about the Catholic faith, encounter Christ and gradually discern where God may be calling you.
Who is RCIA for?
RCIA is particularly for:
- Adults who are not baptised and are considering becoming Catholic. They prepare for Baptism, Confirmation and the Eucharist.
- Adults who have been baptised in another Christian tradition and are considering entering into full communion with the Catholic Church.
- Baptised Catholics who have not received all the Sacraments of Christian Initiation.
- Anyone who would like to explore the Catholic faith more deeply before making a decision.
There is no need to have everything worked out before you begin, and there is no pressure to become Catholic. The journey is different for each person.
RCIA in our future extended parish
If you are interested, please join us on Saturday 19 September at 11am in St Michael’s, Parish Hall, Hayling Rise BN12 3AL for a brief presentation of the programme and what is required.
If you are interested in exploring the Catholic faith, or if you are considering becoming Catholic, you are very welcome to get in touch with Deacon Mark. He will be happy to answer your questions and explain how the journey will work.
How do I begin?
The first step is simply to express your interest.
Please complete the initial RCIA enquiry form. This will give us some basic information and allow Deacon Mark to make contact with you.
You are also welcome to contact Deacon Mark directly if you have any questions about RCIA or the journey of becoming Catholic.
