1/ CAFOD Family Fast Day This Lent, live out the Gospel call to love your neighbour. By fasting and giving what you save, you join in Christ’s compassion and help another family put food on the table. Your donation can help families around the world grow food in difficult conditions – such as on flood-resistant floating gardens or using solar-powered water pumps in times of drought.
The 2nd collection will be this weekend Sun 1st March & there are many ways to donate & bless others with your support. Take a CAFOD envelope, donate through the 2nd collection, use the card machines at the back of the church’s, online at cafod.org.uk/envelope or call 0303 303 3030. A group of generous supporters has offered to match online donations to our Lent Appeal up to £378,000 www.cafod.org.uk
2/ SHOUT Helps those who are really struggling to feed their families and the homeless. If you can spare an extra item from your shopping, please donate it to SHOUT Worthing – Soup Kitchen. There are boxes for food donations at the church entrances of St Mary’s. Holy Family also support a similar charity.

4/ Live Simply Tip of the week Fit more active travel into your day and daily routine. As the weather warms up, it’s worth considering what journeys can be made by walking or cycling. Could you get off a stop early to walk the rest of your journey, take a relaxing stroll home, or hop on a bike and enjoy a cycle friendly route? If you prefer exploring outdoors on foot, find out if there’s a local Ramblers group.
5/ LiveSimply “The future demands that we learn to collaborate more and to grow together.” Pope Leo XIV (drawing new maps of hope)
CAFOD’ s latest PowerPoint demonstrates the progression that Live Simply has made over the years, inspired by the Live Simply journey through Living Simply, Living Sustainably and Living in Solidarity and Its culmination in an Eco award. This leads to bringing about the Common Good and the HOPE to come, that is, “…encouraging a culture of encounter and collaboration” LS#71
Pope Francis summed this up in Laudato Si, “Creation accounts suggest …that human life is grounded in three fundamental and closely intertwined relationships, with God, with our neighbour, and finally with the very earth itself, …all it takes is one good person to restore HOPE. (LS#71)
Just one good person is needed!
St Mary’s is a LiveSimply church & we hope Holy Family will soon become one. LiveSimply PowerPoint CAFOD_What_is_livesimply_presentation.pptx
