NEWSLETTER ITEMS FROM THE JUSTICE & PEACE GROUP WEEK COMMENCING 3-3-24

1/ St Faustina Community Health Centre in Uganda.  Our churches have supported the Centre for several years now. Providing much needed equipment for the Centre and for projects to help school children & groups in the community. Our J&P Group have liaised with Fr Sylvester, Head of the Centre, and responded to their requests for help by organising collections and transportation of goods which our parishioners have so generously donated, and which has been of great help in enabling the Centre to meet the needs of the local community.

From today there will be a display of photos received from Fr Sylvester showing how our support has been put to such good use. You can view the display in the Mary Chapel at the car park end of St. Mary’s church, and in Holy Family church.

If you would like to contribute to the work of St Faustina on a regular basis, or with a one-off donation, please go to their website: stfaustinamedicalcenter.com/

2/ LIVE SIMPLY Tip of the Week WASTING FOOD FEEDS CLIMATE CHANGE. Don’t believe us? Well, if we stopped throwing away the 714,000 tonnes of potatoes we waste every year in our homes, it would do the same for the environment as taking 326,000 tonnes of CO2e out of our atmosphere! We’re challenging everyone to understand the true value of food and waste as little as possible. It’s time to act now.  https://lovefoodhatewaste.com/
From 20th to 23rd March there are displays & action on Food Waste at CREW 8/9 South Street. Worthing. BN11 3AL

3/ Fairtrade Easter Eggs Are on sale at both churches including a new 24 page Easter story activity book that shares the true meaning of Easter.

4/ What are Tiny Forests? They bring the benefits of woodland right into the heart of our cities and urban spaces: connecting people with nature, helping to mitigate the impacts of climate change, as well as providing a nature-rich habitat to support urban wildlife.  Our nearest one is at East Lancing Recreation Ground. tinyforest.earthwatch.org.uk/
