1/ 81 years since the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki Sunday August 9th 2.30pm – 4pm The Peace Tree, Homefield Park Worthing, There will be Speakers and Poems for Peace. Petitions will be available to sign: The United States Air Force dropped one atomic bomb on Hiroshima on 6th August 1945 and a second nuclear bomb on Nagasaki on 9th August. Possibly more than 200,000 people died at the time or from radiation sickness later. We commemorate all those who lost their lives when a single atomic bomb was dropped on each city.
To find the Peace Tree: Enter Homefield Park by the Homefield Road entrance and follow the path that goes straight on towards the centre of the park. The peace tree is on your right, marked with a plaque on the ground in front of it. All are welcome.

3/ LIVE SIMPLY Tip of the Week Stick at 70 mph on motorways instead of cruising at 80–85 mph. Not only is it illegal, but fuel costs can go up by as much as 4p/5p a mile for small cars. According to the Slower Speed initiative driving at 50 mph instead of 70 mph can reduce fuel consumption further by 30%.
