2/ LIVE SIMPLY Tip of the Week Save energy with ‘sit boiling’ To save energy while you cook, try ‘sit boiling’ for veg, pasta or rice. Cook on full heat for a few minutes, remove from the hob but keep covered with close fitting lid, and leave to finish cooking in the hot water. Experiment a bit to get your timings right. 3/ Season of Creation 2026: Living Water
The Season of Creation 2026 will be celebrated from September 1 to October 4, coinciding with the Feast of Saint Francis of Assisi. This ecumenical season mobilizes churches, faith-based organizations, and communities worldwide to respond to the ecological crisis. 4/ Catholic Worker Movement UK The Catholic Worker Movement in the UK is a community of the international radical Christian ‘Catholic Worker’ movement, which started in 1933 in New York City by Dorothy Day and Peter Maurin. The movement is ecumenical, pacifist, and anarchist, and it aims to live in accordance with the justice and charity of Jesus Christ. The movement is based on the principles of communitarianism and personalism, and it focuses on hospitality towards those on the margin of society. The UK has over 240 local Catholic Worker communities, each with its own mission and approach to social justice. The movement is active in opposing war and the unequal global distribution of wealth, and it campaigns for nonviolence.
