The Gatwick Detainees Welfare Group (GDWG) is dedicated to improving the welfare and wellbeing of individuals held in immigration detention at Gatwick Airport. Established in 1995, GDWG provides emotional and practical support through volunteer visitors, advocating for fair treatment, and offering friendship and support. GDWG’s efforts have been recognized, with 22,996 individuals entering immigration detention in the UK in the year ending December 2025, highlighting the ongoing need for support and advocacy in this area.
